Las Vegas – The Final Day

We went for a champagne brunch at The Wynn buffet.  I got it comped for my excessive gambling the night before.  That was a fantastic brunch:  champagne and mimosas free flowing, awesome breakfast selections, and a great waiter.  So now, I have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Wynn Buffet.  It is hard to rate them, since they were all so tasty.

We checked out the Bellagio gardens and Jean Philippe Patisserie.  At Jean Philippe, they have the world’s tallest chocolate fountain.  I wish it was not closed in.  I would love to stick my mouth under the one of the cascades of chocolate.

We all left Vegas around the same time as each other.  I did not want to leave.  I wanted to stay and live at the Wynn buffet.  I will be back to Las Vegas soon.  Next time, I will be staying exclusively at the Wynn.

Las Vegas – Day 2

We started the morning off with breakfast at the Tintoretto Bakery in The Venetian Hotel.  I got the pain au chocolat (which is my favorite breakfast pastry).  it was pretty delish, as was everyone’s breakfast.

We did a lot of walking and exploring the different hotels and casinos on the strip.  We had lunch at the Wynn Buffet.  It was delish once again.  I think it was about $20 cheaper than dinner.  I forgot how much it was exactly.

For dinner, we took a cab to a restaurant off the Strip.  We went to Lotus of Siam for dinner.  According to a couple of magazines, it is the best Thai restaurant in North America.  I had the tom yum soup, with a scale of 7/10 spiciness, for an appetizer.  I did not like the flavor that much.  They spiced it with chili peppers instead of the tom yum.  I had rad na for my main course.  I found out that rad na in Thai cuisine is equivalent to me katung in Khmer cuisine.  I was very happy with that dish.  I do not remember exactly what everyone else ordered.

We caught about two or three songs at the Bellagio Fountains.  It was quite spectacular to see the fountains going in sync with the music.  Ben and I went gambling the rest of the night.  It was not a good night for gambling.  I lost most of my money that night.  We did catch an awesome band performing in a lounge in our hotel.

Las Vegas – Day 1

This past weekend I went to Las Vegas with Ben, Elliot, and Mary.  It was an awesome (scratch that) AWESOME trip!  There is too much to talk about in one post, so I will split up the trip by days.

We got into Las Vegas, hassle free, about 1630 PT.  From my past visit to Vegas, I did not check any bags.  Vegas is such an awesome place, that I do not want to waste time waiting for my bags at baggage claim.  Right when I stepped out of the airport, I felt the heat–the dry, dry heat.  It was 100+ degrees the first day, actually every day.  We sat on a shuttle for about an hour, in the heat.  They say that it is so dry out there in the desert, that when you sweat, it evaporates right away.  This was not the case sitting in the shuttle.  I felt every bead of sweat.

We finally got to our hotel, The Palazzo, about two hours after landing in Vegas.  The Palazzo is a new hotel that is somehow part of The Venetian hotel.  When I walked into the hotel, I was greeted by a pleasant scent.  The whole time I

was at the hotel, I could not place my finger on that scent.  I remember reading an article somewhere about how hotels will spray some fragrance in the air.  When you walk into the hotel, you will not quite know the scent, but when you leave and smell it somewhere else, it will bring you back to being at that hotel.  Clever trick.

Elliot and Mary were coming in on a later flight, so Ben and I had a few hours to kill before they arrived.  We gambled a little bit in our casino.  I had signed up for a Club Grazie card online and got I think $15 in free slot play.

Originally, we were going to have dinner at Pampas, but I was feeling lazy and extra hungry.  Since we were right next to the Wynn, we decided to go to the buffet there for dinner.  I had read that the Wynn buffet was awesome and probably the best buffet on the strip.  It turns out, that is pretty much true–in my opinion.  For dinner, they have king crab legs.  Those were delish.  My favorite thing at the buffet was the shrimp shu mai.  I always get shu mai when I go to dim sum.  They were carving a whole turkey and prime rib.  There was way too much good food to mention it all.  There was a wide assortment of dishes to choose from, all were exceptionally tasty.  It cost about $65 for two people, alcohol not included.  I left feeling stuffed, but not sick.  Every time I leave a buffet, I always feel like my pants are going to burst and my veins are full of grease and nastiness.  The food at this buffet was of the quality of dishes that you would get at a normal restaurant on the strip.

Mary and Elliot finally showed up around midnight.  I guess we were all pooped from the day’s traveling and turned in not long after.  That was probably the earliest we went to sleep during the whole trip.

Lookout for Day 2, 3, & 4 and picture updates!
