About two weeks ago, I decided to stop swearing. I never swore when I was a little kid, mainly because my parents wouldn’t allow us to swear. I probably didn’t start swearing regularly until I met my best friend Martha. She can swear up a storm.
In order for me to stay on track, cause I have tried this plenty of times before and fell off the wagon, I created a “Swearing Jar.” Everytime I say a swear word, I put a quarter in the jar. At the end of all this, I owe the money to my friend, who is helping me stay on the wagon this time. Since I don’t carry quarters with me all the time, I just keep tabs of how much I owe on a lil post-it note.
After two weeks, I owe $4.50. I think that’s pretty good. It’s really hard not to swear, when swearing has been part of my regular speech for a while. I’ll keep you updated on my progress!
